This shawl is written as two separate patterns (formal shawl & remnants shawl) using two or more colors of fingering weight yarn. The formal shawl provides a pattern where all of the lace sections and garter sections are uniform. The remnants pattern is written to use up scrap yarn and the lace/garter sections will vary based on the amount of yarn you have and includes techniques on joining yarn (no ends to weave) and hiding color changes in the middle of the row.

This asymmetrical shawl is infinitely versatile. The proportions of the shawl remain the same regardless of the size, meaning it can be knit as a shawlette or an over-sized wrap. You can also use any yarn weight you’d like. The required yardage will depend on yarn weight, needle size, gauge, and desired size of shawl.
