Much like the phenomena from which this shawl derives its name, Varve is shaped by layers. Layers of lace! All of the shaping is incorporated into the stitch pattern so that when the gentle concentric rings are formed they are also shaping the triangle. Though the pattern is unorthodox the result is a typical triangular shawl shaped form the center neck downwards.

The sample shown is chart A followed by chart B, however the pattern is written so that the knitter may use either chart as the main pattern or the edging, or simply leave off the edging if desired. The knitter will need to know how to read knitting charts, or be willing to attempt them, as the stitch pattern is not written out line by line.
