Please note that the pattern is charted only.

The shapes formed remind me of onion domes - and that immediately makes me think of Varykino in Dr. Zhivago.

(but the photo was taken in Kiev).

The cables are made using Barbara Walker’s twisting method, no cable needle required (great for travel knitting) and the whole hat knits up very quickly.

Rowan Lima Colour was perfect for this - makes for very flexible sizing and the shading plays out nicely - other Worsted, Aran and even DK yarns can be substituted.
