Veecardi is an A-line, V-neck, open front women’s cardigan with a trick up its sleeve. This is a bottom-up, simple sweater knit in pieces…seven pieces, to be exact. You’ll work towards a flexible, V-neck cardigan while enjoying completely portable, simple patterned knitting that fits in a purse while you’re on the go!

Veecardi requires knitting, purling, increases, decreases, and sewing up at the end. This design uses written instructions and a schematic. It calls for a double strand of lace-weight or a single strand of Worsted or Aran yarn that knits at 17 sts sts = 4”/10 cm after blocking.

Veecardi McStrippit is related to three other McStrippit designs: Esme, Strippy and Rosie McStrippit. Knit all four for great capsule wardrobe foundation pieces.

Accessibility Note: This pattern offers an additional Low Vision pdf option, with Arial 24 point sans serif font in all black text and photo captions. It has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. If there’s a chart included, (none for this pattern) there are also written instructions- the chart is not needed to complete the pattern.

Finished Measurements:
Veecardi McStrippit is a drop sleeve, bottom-up, V-neck, A-line women’s cardigan, measuring 33 (36, 39, 41, 44, 47, 53)“ / 84 (91, 99, 104, 112, 119, 135) cm at the bust when blocked. Plan for 0-4” / 0-10cm of ease in fit.

Yardage/Meterage Required:
Any Lace-weight, doubled, or Worsted or Aran medium weight yarn that knits to the correct gauge

Approximately 1475 (1727, 1914, 2200, 2371, 2800, 3355) yd/1349 (1580, 1750, 2012, 2168, 2560, 3068) m of Lace-weight, knit doubled (2 strands together)

OR
Approximately 737 (864, 957, 1100, 1186, 1400, 1678) yd/ 674 (790, 875, 1006, 1084, 1280, 1534) m of Worsted or Aran (knit 1 strand only)

The Sample pictured is Size 44” / 112cm, and knit in Jo Sharp 8 ply DK Pure Wool (100% Pure Wool, 107 yd (98 m) / 1.75 oz (50 gr) per skein). Color used in sample is Summer or shade #001.

Notes on the sample yarn: The sample yarn has been discontinued and replaced by Jo Sharp Classic DK Wool. A potential colour substitution might be Lush - shade #359. While this yarn calls itself DK, it is slightly thicker than a DK weight and can be knit at a worsted or medium weight gauge.

Other ideas for yarn might include Lopi Einband or Marianne Isager Tvinni doubled, or in Lopi Léttlopi. Note: Samples knit in these yarns used US #7 (4.5mm) or US #6 (4.0mm) needles -for Marianne Isager Tvinni - to get correct gauge.

Gauge:
17 sts and 24 rows = 4” (10 cm) in stitch pattern, after swatch is blocked.
