The Velouria Blanket is made up of 30 identical textured granny squares. The raised stitches give each square plenty of depth, while the joining technique and textured border add even more detail to the finished design.

For my Velouria Blanket, I used Hobbii Crafting acrylic yarn in an aran weight. This yarn creates a lovely substantial fabric that shows off the textured stitches beautifully. Acrylic yarn is also practical and easy to care for, making it a great choice for a blanket you can enjoy every day.
You don’t have to use the same yarn as I did, though! You can crochet the Velouria Blanket with any yarn you like. A soft acrylic, a cosy wool blend or another favourite yarn from your stash can all work beautifully.
Keep in mind that changing the yarn weight will affect the size of your squares and the finished blanket. You may need to adjust your hook size, and your yarn requirements will vary depending on your choice of yarn.
