Velvet Scrunchie
There are many scrunchie crochet patterns to choose from, so what makes this one different? I designed this specific pattern to solve a couple problems I had with most of the other scrunchies that were on the market. First was the amount of fabric around the scrunchie. I have thick hair, so I knew I needed one with lots of extra fabric on the outside to allow it to be wrapped at least twice around my hair. The second problem I found was that most patterns make the stitches around the elastic. But when you stretch it out, you can see the elastic. So this pattern eliminates that issue.
For this pattern, you’ll need a category 5 velvet yarn (ie. Bernat Velvet). Each skein of Bernat Velvet will yield you about 8-10 scrunchies with this pattern.
Hook size: 6.5 mm
This is an advanced beginner pattern, but utilized foundational double crochet (FDC). But don’t worry if you don’t know how to do that stitch. Instructions, with pictures, are included. However, if you have any questions at any time, please feel free to send me an email for help. I’m happy to help where I can!
