Note: This may seem too big, but remember there is a lot of fleece inside making them fit snugly!

This is my version of the traditional New England thrummed mittens. I’ve used my favorite technique for shaping a thumb gore, using purl stitches instead of markers to outline the shaping, and round shaping for the top of the hand and tip of the thumb. The placement of the thrums is offset on every other pattern row to make them give more even coverage on the inside of the mitten. You can actually make this pattern as is, with or without the thrums. The gauge will change, so the size will automatically adapt.
