Verve: (noun) the spirit and enthusiasm animating artistic composition or performance. e.g. She sings with skill and verve.

The Verve Pullover is all about feeling your enthusiastic best! Like its fingering-weight version (Valine), Verve is worked from the shoulders-down with set-in 3/4 sleeves that are created simultaneously with the upper bodice in a technique originally described by Barbara Walker (a photo tutorial is included so you can check your work).

Make it in a basic sport or DK yarn for an everyday, go-to sweater, or jazz it up with a special luxury-fiber yarn. Choose a shallow twisted rib and the hem & cuffs, or a k2p2 ribbing. Either way, this is a basic sweater that performs beautifully with anything from jeans to a snazzy pencil skirt.

Shaping to the waist and hips is accomplished along princess “seams” to allow for maximum customization. See “Some Thoughts About Fit” (included in the pattern) for advice on how to adapt the shaping to your own fit preferences, as well as a how-to (in a separate pdf) for adding horizontal bust darts for additional tailoring.
