This rectangular purse with flap is made with a simple sc/dc pattern with thread held double and finished with a shell pattern across the bottom.

Besides the stated crochet thread and hooks, to complete the bag as shown the original pattern suggests one-quarter yard of 1/4” wide ribbon to match thread, 1/2 yard of manufactured bead trim, one size 3/0 snap fastener, one 5/8” shank button to match thread, and one silver filigree craft backing. Additional materials and tools include sewing thread to match crochet thread, a tapestry needle, a sewing needle, straight pins, and craft glue.

Two balls of crochet thread are required because the bag is worked with thread held double. The finished size is approximate.
