Yarn Requirements: 400 yards each of two colors and 40 yards of a third color. I used a Knitted Wit Gumball (40 yards of fingering-weight yarn) for my third color.

This shawl is knit using traditional hap construction: the pointed border is knit first, then the Old Shale edging, then the garter stitch center. Traditional haps are full squares, and I’ve adapted the construction to create a triangular half hap. The simple patterns make this the perfect introduction to hap knitting. To learn more about hap history and construction, I recommend Kate Davies’s Book of Haps.
