Villa Adriana (Hadrian’s Villa) is a Roman archeological complex and it was the residence of Hadrian emperor; it is a vast area with buildings, fountains, pools, in classical Greek and Egyptian architectures.

The “Villa Adriana” scarf is worked side to side, and features an original motif of lace cables. Short rows are used to give it the rounded shape at the top, the pattern does contain a link to a video tutorial for the German short rows.

The sample on first picture has been knit with 328 yd – 300 m of fingering weight Kolibri-Creativ 17.5 Micron Merino (416 yd – 380 m on 3.53 oz – 100 g) and needles size 3.75 mm - US size 5.
This pattern has been test knitted with fingering, DK and sport weight yarn, please take in account different yardage is needed using thicker yarn/larger needles.

The pattern has charts and line-by-line directions.

On download page you’ll find two PDFs:

  • Villa_Adriana.pdf does contain the directions to knit the scarf.
  • Samples_Villa_Adriana.pdf does contain pictures and specifics of all the test samples.

My biggest thanks to the test knitters for the precious help and the awesome projects!
And my biggest thanks to Ayala120 for the suggestive image that led to this name! :-)

NOTE : the “Samples_Villa_Adriana.pdf” does NOT contain directions, only pictures of the test samples, yarn amount, measurements and notes. There is NO need to print it to knit this pattern.
