Villette
Villette is a pattern inspired by one of my favorite authors, Charlotte Brontë, who wrote the classics Jane Eyre and Villette, and the time period in which she lived, the Victorian Era (1837-1901).
During the Victorian Era, lace knitting became popular, as Queen Victoria loved knitting and crocheting, and would give lace items as gifts. Most notably, she had gifted Harriet Tubman a lace shawl around the year 1897, which can be seen at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.
Also popular during the time period of Victoria’s reign were dresses that featured off-the-shoulder bodice designs.
Knit in Classic Elite Yarns Cotton Bam Boo, this off-the-shoulder top is not only soft and sturdy, but very lightweight and perfect for summer!
The top is designed to be body skimming, with about a half of an inch of negative ease in the shoulders and bust and zero ease throughout the rest of the garment.
Note: Sizes are based off of the Women’s Size Chart published by the Craft Yarn Council. Measurements for each size are listed here:
