Vine Top
Patterns from my Vine Knitwear Collection receive a “buy one and get the second half price” discount! The discount is automatically applied at checkout and works with previous purchase as well. Enjoy!
The Vine Top is a top-down sleeveless summer top. A vine stitch pattern runs from the shoulder strap and separates into two strings of vines: one grows along the edges of the V-neck collar and down through the centre of the body; the other shifts towards the underarm all the way down to the (optional) split hem. Knitted with a drapey linen yarn, the fabric flows with the vines in harmony. The length of the body is adjustable thanks to the top-down construction, so feel free to make it as cropped as you like or longer into a slip dress!
The vine stitch pattern is provided in charts as well as in written instructions.

YARN
Lotus Yarns Linen 100 (100% linen; 50 g = 290 m), shown in the colourway #21, holding two strands together as one:
- Regular version: 3 (3, 4, 4, 5) (5, 5, 6, 6) skeins;
- Cropped version: 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) (4, 4, 5, 5) skeins.
For yarn substitution, you may use similar sports weight yarn single stranded or lace weight yarn double stranded that gives you a nice drape and obtains the suggested gauge. The required yardage for one single strand is approximately
- Regular version: 380 (430, 480, 540, 610) (670, 730, 790, 860) m or 416 (470, 525, 591, 667) (733, 798, 864, 941) yards;
- Cropped version: 310 (330, 380, 430, 490) (520, 570, 620, 670) m or 339 (361, 416, 470, 536) (569, 623, 678, 733) yards.
These yarn would be a good substitution for the suggested yarn:
- Single stranded: BC Garn Lino, BC Garn Soft Silk, Sandnes Garn Line;
- Double stranded: Knitting for Olive Pure Silk, Holst Garn Coast.
Always swatch before substituting yarn.
