My Grandmother’s farm was on the crest of a hill between Cloverdale and Langley, in the broad delta of the Fraser River. I couldn’t tell you how much acreage she had; by the time I knew the farm it had long ago stopped being used as such, and the woodlot between the pastures and the hay fields had be left to go wild. In spring, the rutted wagon track through the woodlot would fill with water, and violets would bloom on the green strip between the long puddles. My sister and I would go out to play in “our” woods, and come home with soaking, muddied jeans and fists full of violets.

Viola Sororia is a rectangular stole worked from end of end, featuring a diagonal field of violet flowers with beaded hearts bordered by Old Shale lace. The pattern is knitted in garter stitch for a fully reversible wrap.

Pattern is both fully written and fully charted.
