The Viral Hat is a lightweight comfy hat that is designed for fall and spring weather. The hat takes a tiny virus called bacteriophage, a quirky little creature of nature, as an inspiration and turns it into an elegant and sophisticated look that can complement any outfit.

The pattern includes instructions for adult and child (ages 3-12) sizes and is customizable to desired slouchiness. The 1x1 ribbed brim provides a lot of negative ease to fit a wide range of head circumferences.

The virus motif and the cable work shine best in solid colors, but color work or intarsia is possible. For warmer climates, plant-based fibers such as cotton and bamboo blends work best for this pattern. If you are living in a cooler climate, go for a wool or alpaca blend for a warmer finish.
