Inspired by Vivian Høxbro’s book “Traditional Danish Sweaters”, this pullover has a traditional arrangement of damask patterns, at least one dating back to the 17th century. It also features lovely and reinforcing braids at the edges, a waistband with a split and overlapping edges, and faux seams.

The pullover’s design and shaping is adapted for contemporary styling. The body is kept relatively modest and features a figure-flattering faux corset piece. The mandatory traditional star motif is placed prominently in the centre yoke front on a smooth stockinette background. The sleeves have an intricate damask pattern.

The pullover is knitted in the round from the bottom up. Body and sleeves are worked as separate tubes from the lower edge to the armholes. Then the pieces are joined and knitted in a tapered tube. This makes reading the charts easier and there is only a small seam under the armhole to sew up after the knitting is complete.

Waist, crew neck and sleeve shaping are added for a tailored fit. Together with the raglan shaping this gives the pullover good structure and stability to always make it hang straight.

For your convenience, there are separate instructions in an attractive layout for each size (36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46). You may find my full descriptions easier to follow than the standard brief and cryptic ones.

The light knitted fabric in fingering weight wool will keep you comfortably warm. For women who desire elegance in daily life.
