Volutus is a roll cloud and has just been added to the International Atlas of Clouds - link

It also seemed like the perfect name for this cardigan because it’s light as a wispy cloud and has knitted-in rolled edges.

Knitted in 2 pieces and then seamed at the sides and the middle of the back.

Cumulus was originally listed as sport weight - this has now been changed to heavy lace - for this pattern it is knitted with loose gauge to give a light airiness - which worked well.

if you are substituting a different type of yarn, be sure to knit a swatch to check gauge and to be sure you like the texture of your yarn when knitted to the required gauge - for this pattern row gauge is not vital, but stitch gauge is .

I tried with true lace weight mohair and found it was too fine to be knitted singly - but held double with another yarn it worked well - link
I also knitted one using a rustic DK weight yarn and that worked well too - link
