Voorpret is the Dutch word that describes the anticipation before an exciting event. I designed the Voorpret Shawl before embarking on a year-long international adventure with my family of four. I wanted to capture my excitement of our soon-to-be adventures in this shawl.

Measurements: Wingspan: 61” / 155cm Depth: 33” / 84cm

Yarn: Fingering Weight / 4 ply Main Color (MC): 420yds / 384m Contrasting Color (CC): 420yds / 384m

Sample shown in Shalimar Yarns Breathless (75% Merino, 15% Cashmere goat, 10% Silk; 420yds / 100g), MC Juniper Berry, CC Neptune.

Needles: US 5 / 3.75mm 32-40” / 80-100cm circular needle to hold a number of sts (shawl is worked flat), or size required to obtain gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle, Blocking Supplies

Gauge: 20 sts x 32 rows = 4” in garter stitch, blocked. Gauge is not crucial but variations will affect yardage and final measurements.

Note: This triangular shawl is knit on the bias with a centered bottom tip.
