This hat celebrates August 18th’s 100 year Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment recognizing a woman’s right to vote in the US. The colors are inspired by sash the Suffragettes wore. Although you could do this in any color!

There are 4 sizes for the hat - from child to large adult.

You do not use all of the yarn for these hats. You can easily get 2 or three hats our of the yarn. You need just a few yards of black and equal amounts - roughly 50 - 100 yards of each color.

This hat is knit flat, all in one piece and seamed at the sides.

The colorwork is created after all of the knitting is complete using duplicate stitch. This is so easy it is almost cheating! But, hey, we deserve a break!

As I say in the pattern, regardless of your political affiliation, many women worked really hard to ensure we have this right. So this election season, get out there and exercise your right!

Even more, during this season, seek out a person with different views and have a conversation with the goal of understanding perspectives. It is not that you will or even should change your mind, but I truly believe that we have more in common than we think!
