Waffle Cone Socks
The Waffle Cone Socks are worked cuff down with a heel flap and gusset construction. The leg is worked in two or three colors using stranded colorwork to create a single- or double-scoop ice cream motif, while the remainder of the leg, heel flap, and foot are worked in a waffle stitch. This sock uses a jogless colorwork technique so your colorwork looks seamless on the finished socks!
Sizes
1 (2) 3
Finished measurements
6.5 (7.5) 8.5” / 16.5 (19) 21.5 cm foot circumference

Pistachio (Single Scoop) and Strawberry Vanilla (Double Scoop) samples shown in Size 2 on an 8.5” / 21.5 cm foot circumference.
Suggested Needles
Main: US 1 / 2.25mm needles for working small circumferences in the round.
Cuff (optional): US 0 / 2 mm needles for the cuff
Colorwork (optional): US 1.5 / 2.5 mm needles
Use the needle size you need to achieve gauge and a fabric and fit you love.
Yarn
MC: 192 (225) 258 yds / 176 (206) 236 m fingering weight yarn
Single Scoop:
CC: 44 (52) 60 yds / 40 (48) 55 m fingering weight yarn
Double Scoop:
CC: 26 (30) 34 yds / 24 (28) 32 m fingering weight yarn
CC2: 44 (52) 60 yds / 40 (48) 55 m fingering weight yarn
These are just approximations. The total amounts used will depend on the yarn you use, your gauge, the wearer’s foot length, and any modifications you may make.
Recommended yarns
Explorer Knits and Fibers Denali Sock
(80% Superwash Merino Wool / 20% Nylon, 400 yds / 366 m per 100g)
Woolberry Fiber Co. Berry Cozy Sock
(80% Superwash Merino Wool / 20% Nylon, 400 yds / 366m per 100g)
Pistachio sample uses Explorer Knits and Fibers Denali Sock in “Waffle Cone” (MC) and
Chelsea Luxe Yarns Sock in “Laduree” (CC)
Strawberry Vanilla sample uses Explorer Knits and Fibers Denali Sock in “Waffle Cone” (MC) and
Woolberry Fiber Co. Berry Cozy Sock Minis in “Eggnog” (CC) and “Nutcracker” (CC2)
Any fingering weight sock yarns will work well for this pattern. Note that this pattern was designed using 2-ply sock yarns with 400 yds / 366 m per 100g. Using lighter-weight sock yarns will likely result in a tighter gauge on the same needle size and result in a slightly snugger fitting sock. Keep this in mind when choosing a size and yarn for your socks!
