Waiting For Lisbon Socks came to life during a pivotal week for my family—a week spent in an almost empty flat, counting down the days to Friday and our one-way flight to Lisbon, Portugal. I cast on this project and carried it with me across each stage of our journey: from the plane to Lisbon, to the train down to Albufeira, and finally to our new home in Central Portugal. This pair of socks will always hold the memory of that life-changing move, for which, I hope, I’ll always remain grateful.

SIZES: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5)
FINISHED FOOT CIRC.: 17.5 (19, 20.5, 22, 23.5) cm / 7 (7.5, 8, 8.75, 9.25)“
EASE: 1-2.5 cm / 0.5-1” of negative ease

The socks shown are a size 2 (foot length of 24 cm, approx. 9.5”) with 2 cm (approx. 0.75”) of negative ease.

YARN: You need 2 skeins of Signature 4ply by West Yorshire Spinners (400 m / 100 g, 75% wool, 25% nylon).

The sample is knitted with Signature 4ply, in the colourway Milk Bottle and Cardamom.
For one sock in size 2, normal instep, I used approx. 17 g of MC yarn and 11 g of CC yarn. If you buy two skeins of Signature 4ply you should be able to knit two pairs of these socks (valid for smaller sizes).
Please be aware that adjusting the length of the garment or the needle size you need to achieve the stated gauge will also affect the amount of yarn needed to finish the project.

NEEDLES: 2.25 mm / 1 US circular needles with a cable of at least 25 cm / 10” (if using mini circular needles), or with a cable of at least 60 cm / 23.75” for magic looping, or DPNs in the same size

GAUGE: 32 sts & 44 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch worked in the round after washing and blocking
