Titled for both the artwork it takes inspiration from and the concept of changing patterns frequently, this cowl is a great show-off piece for all those mini-skeins you have laying around!

This pattern is what my friends and I call a “Showl” - a hybrid between a cowl and a shawl. It drapes nicely like a shawl without those crazy ends to worry about.

Designed to play with the colors included in my mini-skein set, “Beneath Wandering Thoughts”, which is inspired by my own original art of the same name.

Yarn:
“The Knitting Artist” mini-skein set of 5, each mini is 20g/92 yards. 2-ply fingering yarn, 75% SW Merino, 25% Nylon.
Shown with “Beneath Wandering Thoughts”
Amount of each yarn used:
Color A (Blue-Violet) - 20g ; Color B (Lt Pink) - 17g ; Color C (Green) - 20g ; Color D (Yellow) - 6g ;
Color E (Dk Pink) - 15g.

These numbers are rounded up from decimals, so please factor accordingly. I used almost all of my color A and color C. Pay attention as you go to avoid running out or plan to have extra yardage and/or another color. You are always welcome to use scraps, add more or less colors, and play with where you put each color. There is a coloring page at the end to help you sketch out ideas before starting.

Needles:
US size 5, 16-24 in for body. Or size needed for gauge. May cast on with shorter needles if needed.

One size.

9 st and 5 rds = 1 inch in stockinette.
Gauge is only critical if you want a specific fit.

Must be able to knit, purl, yarn over, increase and decrease and understand written or charted instructions.

All pattern sections are easily explained and are really pretty easy!

Pattern has been tested, but please message me if you find any errors or need help.
