Warhol Watermelon is a whimsical design created for my class, “Knitting with Variegated Yarn.” This semi-circular shawl pattern is designed for any three-color gradient yarn. DK was specifically used in the pattern.

Yarn color, fabric texture, stitch selection, and overall shape affect a design’s appearance. Warhol Watermelon uses the “laws of seeing” (Gestalt) to produce a watermelon effect for one dye pattern; an Andy Warhol watermelon effect for another.

This pattern is written for advanced beginners who can knit stockinette and seed stitch. It uses Cat Bordhi’s La-Link and La-Rink increases.

Please contact me with questions or comments. I use these to revise and improve my patterns. Thank you for looking.
