Warm Hands, Warm Hearts
Hearkening back to bygone days, the muff is one of those accessories that has a character all its own. Sure, gloves and mittens will warm your hands, but a muff will warm your heart, too, and give you a feeling of dashing around a snowy countryside in a one-horse open sleigh at the same time!
Both sides of the muff are identical. A 1x1 rib stitched cuff increases into a 2x2 rib and is folded down and tacked down at the end. Cables change the 2x2 rib into a 4x4 rib as a set up for the center braid. Once that braid is finished, cables move stitches back into a 4x4 rib, a 2x2 rib, and finally decreases into a second 1x1 rib that is also folded down and tacked down at the end. Because of the superbulky yarn, there are two rather than three plain rows between cable rows to keep rows from becoming to tight and allow the yarn to provide more insulation. The two braids are separated by a 4-stitch cable on each side.
