Pattern Notes: Each square is approximately 7” x 9”; 49 squares, total, for the entire blanket. Each square takes about 60 yards of worsted-weight yarn.

Pattern Description from Knitting for Peace: “If you are able to coordinate efforts, this afghan can be a wonderful community project. If you aren’t part of a group, or don’t have time to knit more than a few squares, the volunteers at Warm Up America! headquarters can combine them with squares received from others. For ease in assembly, make sure the squares measure as close to 7” by 9” as possible. Adjust needle size--or even the number of stitches--to achieve the necessary dimensions.”

Finished Measurements:

  • Finished square: 7” by 9”
  • Assembled afghan: Approximately 49” wide by 63” long.

Yarn: Approximately 60 yards washable worsted-weight yarn per square.

Sample in book shown in Brown Sheep Company Lamb’s Pride Super Wash (100% superwash wool).

Needles: One pair straight needles size US 7 (4.5 mm). Change needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn needle.

Gauge Note: Gauge may vary with other pattern stitches.
