Warmth for Waiting Cowl
DETAILS:
Warmth for Waiting is a triangle shaped cowl worked flat with cast-on and bind-off edges seamed together. A slip stitch pattern makes for an engaging and quick knit with minimal purling. This would be great for using up scraps and playing with color, as each contrast color uses less than 30 grams.
YARN:
Malabrigo Arroyo or any Sport weight yarn in three colors
Approx. 115 grams total
MC (Whales Road): ~70 grams
CC1 (Marte): ~25 grams
CC2 (Talisman): ~20 grams
NEEDLE:
US 8 / 5.0mm or size needed to obtain gauge
GAUGE:
20 stitches and 40 rows = 4x4 inch in garter stitch
INSPIRATION:
The inspiration for this design comes from the season of Advent - a season of waiting, longing, preparation, and expectation. During Advent we wait with hope and expectation for the coming of Christ. The colors fade from dark at the front to bright at the back. Dark purples and blues are the traditional colors of Advent, which signify royalty to welcome the coming King, and I chose a bright orange to signify hope and light in the midst of our waiting.
May this cowl be a reminder to you that there can be light in the midst of darkness and hope in the midst of seasons of waiting.
