This design was inspired by a good friend of mine who loves cake. She was disappointed that there weren’t many cake / sweet treat themed dishcloth / washcloth patterns, so I set out to design one. My first thought was they had to be practical. When I give gifts, I want them to be ones people will use – and 3D dishcloths are a lot harder to sell as “use this” than standard flat ones.

So I decided to make them cuter. Looking at gorgeous cake pictures, I decided the swirling bon-bon design was the best and set out to imitate it. After rolling them in a few ways, I finally decided on the method I show at the end of the pattern. However, you’re welcome to mix it up!

Each Bon Bon is made from 2 cloths, which take approximately 50 yards each. Ombre and solid yarns work great for these patterns, but varigated yarns sometimes muddle the stitch patterns.

Four different cloth patterns are included in this pattern for your perusing! A picture guide at the end of the pattern shows how I wrapped the samples used in the pattern photos.
