2026 marks ten years for the 4 Day Knitalong, an exuberant annual knitting event that has brought thousands of knitters -- from around the world -- together in for the month of July. Despite the name, the knitalong has never really been about knitting a whole sweater in 4 days (although if you’re knitting the smaller sizes, you absolutely can). What it’s really about is discovering for yourself that knitting a sweater doesn’t have to take a year. Or even a few months.

The 4 Day Knitalong has been a labor of love all these years, but now in its tenth year, it’s finally time to close this chapter. I’m ready to make space for new inspiration and new knitalongs. What began with Stillwater in 2016 will be ending with Watermark -- a nod to the beginning, and a reminder that creative work is how many of us leave our mark while we’re here.

This year’s pattern features top-down, raglan construction with all-over lace details. Personalize your project with your choice of three sleeve length options (short, half, long). You can even spice it up with contrast trim, if you like! The result will be a classic sweater that you’ll wear for years to come.

Sizes: S (M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, 6X)

Yarn: Light DK Weight (or heavy sport weight) | approximately 260 yards in 100 grams | Wool, wool blends, or cotton/linen blends | 825 (891, 962, 1039, 1122, 1212, 1309, 1414, 1527) yards / 754 (814, 879, 950, 1026, 1108, 1197, 1293, 1396) meters

Needles:
US Size 5 (3.75 mm) 24-40 in (60-100 cm) circular needles, – or size needed to achieve gauge – body
