Watermelon Kippahs
Pattern inspired by: LGBTQ+ Pride Kippah/Yarmulke by Stephen G. Krueger
Made for JVP Bay Area
Sizes: Small (5.5”), Medium (6.6”), Large (8.5”)
Recommended Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Sport or any sport weight yarn
Colors: Red, Green, 2nd Green or White, Black
Tools: 6 stitch markers (optional), needle
Requested by fellow JVPer for High Holy Days.
Generally the pattern is knit from the outside edge and relies on multiples of 6 to evenly decrease. S/M sizes begin with the same number of stitches; Medium just has more “K all” rows to fill it out.
Large is much closer to the original pattern inspiration, adjusted for Sport weight yarn/needles.
Block to have less/more curve as needed.
As an added bonus, consider making seedless watermelon kippahs and letting recipients sew their own seeds in ❤️
