I am always drawn to the wonderful ways water flows—in this case with force, straight up. The lace stitch on the foot and back of hand for these pieces has plenty of movement and style, but is remarkably simple to work.

The socks are worked from the toe up, starting with a figure-8 cast on. The lace panel is worked over the top of the foot, with stockinette stitch on the sole. A gusset and short-row heel cup form the heel. The lace panel is repeated on the back of the leg and continues from the foot up the front.

This pattern was originally published in Your Knitting Life as the Vanilla Socks, which was posted to Ravelry as the Vanilla (Lace) Socks to disambiguate them from another pattern.
