I first knit this hat over 10 years ago with a fingerling weight yarn but felt it was a bit too much to repeat the same wave pattern with a thin yarn, so had never finished writing the pattern. I’m glad I was able to pick it up again! Knitting it with a sport weight was much faster, and it still shows the stranded work wonderfully. The version of the hat pictured is a bit slouchy. If you prefer more of a beanie style, you can simply omit one repeat of the waves.
