I designed this scarf pattern to go with my Waves of Glory American Flag Hat. It’s a beautiful rendition of America’s Great Flag! The blue field with white stars worked in fairisle flies up the middle of the scarf with the red and white stripes waving on either side in a variation of an old shale pattern stitch.

I wrote the pattern for worsted weight yarn, but you could also use a thinner yarn - just match the needles to the yarn. Gauge is 4.5 sts per inch on US Size 8 (5mm) needles. It takes about 50 to 85 yards each of Red, White and Blue.

Finished size is approximately 8” to 9” wide and 62” long, plus fringe.

This pattern includes written row-by-row instructions and a chart for the stars.

Trish Designs patterns are innovative, unique and always fun to do. The patterns are expertly written in an easy-to-follow manner with step-by-step instructions. They include color pictures, schematics with all pertinent measurements, charts where applicable and written row-by-row stitch pattern instructions. Each pattern is in a clear plastic sheet protector which fits easily into a three-ring binder.

Most of the patterns are written generically with specific information as to the yarns used in the model. Others are written for specific yarns. All the patterns include complete materials information, including all yardage requirements and stockinette stitch gauges in addition to pattern stitch gauges, making it easy to substitute any yarn. They also include any special techniques used in the construction of the design.

If you have any questions with the knitting, I’m always happy to help.
