This is a side-to-side shawl, with 2 different cable/lace motifs knitted in, one at each edge. It will grow to a triangle, as you use up half your yarn, then decrease down to end with the remaining half. If you are using Silk Essence (Laceweight), use size 4 US needles, but if you are using Ensemble Light or Rhapsody Light (DK weight yarn) , I recommend size 5 or 6 needles.
Shown in color 901. One skein of Silk Essence will create a shawl that is 50” long (across) x 17” wide (top to bottom) Two skeins will allow you to continue increasing the width and length until you have used up 1 skein, then decrease down the same way with the second skeins.

The shape of the original Wavy Seas is a Triangle with a Collar, so that there is a slight increase on the Small Diamond End that creates the collar shape, at the same time that there is an increase on the Large Diamond End. The same pattern can be made without the Collar, but as a straight Triangle.
