Wear a Blanket Poncho

Create a unique, warm and visually stunning Wear A Blanket Poncho using just 2 rectangles!

The Wear a Blanket Poncho is designed to fit most adults.
I have provided 2 different ways of creating it – by measurement and by stitch count.

  • Measurement means you can use whatever yarn and matching hook you like (gauge not important at all)
  • Stitch count means you can adjust the thickness of the yarn & hook size to produce different sizes.

Whichever option you choose, have FUN! This is a very simple pattern which can produce dramatically different results, simply by changing the yarn.

*** NOTE: If you downloaded this pattern while it was free, there are some issues with the stitch counts for the WIDE panel. I have released a new version, but free downloads don’t get updates from Ravelry… please contact me to receive your updated pattern.
Stitch Count for Adults - you will need….
Approx 700m of Aran (10ply/Worsted/#4) weight yarn – whatever colour(s) and brand you like. I do suggest using a wool or wool-blend yarn, though, for warmth. ‘Cake’ yarn, as shown here, works beautifully – you’ll need 2 balls!
Yarn needle
Crochet Hook: 9mm (N/P 15)
Gauge: 5 rows, 7 dc to 10cm (4”)2

Made to measurements – you will need…
Approx 400g of whatever colour(s) and brand and yarn weight you like. I do suggest using a wool or wool-blend yarn, for warmth, or a cotton yarn for summer ponchos.
Hook size as suggested for your chosen yarn.
