Our old barn has seen the plenty and provision of the LORD through many, many harvests. We continue to be wonderfully blessed. The amazing thing about “harvest” is that there are so many kinds. When it is ripe and ready, we harvest corn, beans, alfalfa, sweet corn, peas, apples, tomatoes, berries, etc, etc.

The Bible talks about another kind of harvest. In Matthew 9:37, Jesus is talking to his disciples, “The harvest is rich, but the workers are few. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers to gather in his harvest.”

This harvest is YOU, my dear knitter. Jesus yearns to have you choose to make Him your Lord and Savior, to let Him be your best friend. He delights in how you have chosen to use the creative gifts He has given you.

It is an honor to present this opportunity for you to knit this crescent shaped shawl with lots of texture, knit in three wedges with borders between. The center wedge has two options, knit a wonderfully textured “Barn” or a beautiful lace “Field” pattern. (Be sure to consistently follow the set of charts with your chosen center wedge.) As the body is completed, both versions flow into a contrasting color border, and finish with a beaded main color lace edge.

Two colors cotton worsted weight yarn are recommended for making a washcloth to practice the unique stitch pattern used for the shawl border.
