Exploring patterns and textures, this beanie was inspired by simple square wire mesh. The fine straight cables weave under and over each other as they wrap around the fabric. The pattern quickly becomes intuitive which makes it a fast knit.

Uses approx 140yd of DK 8ply wool or merino (or similar) and is suitable as a timeless unisex option for teens and adults. Dress it up with a pompom or leave it bare for a simple statement. You will need 4mm circular needles on a 40cm cable, plus a longer cable or DPNs for the crown decreases. You will also need a cable needle to work the stitch pattern.

Size can be adjusted up or down by working more or fewer (horizontal and/ or vertical) repeats of the charts; or, changing needle size and/or yarn weight.
