Wedding Belle was inspired by a request from my friend. Her daughter wanted a “vintage” silver shawl with lots of beads for her son’s wedding. When I think of “vintage” my mind goes automatically to the Haapsalu stitch patterns.

The shawl starts at the top edge with a beautiful lacy leaf pattern, transitions into an undulating japanese stitch pattern for the border and finishes with a scalloped flower edge and beaded picot bind off.

Charts only with concise written instructions for the two size options. The larger size adds more width to the top edge and length in the body with one more repeat of the border pattern.

Beads? Yes! Throughout the entire shawl. My motto is “ Beaded stitches are optional, but who doesn’t need a little bling in their lives…..”.

A very fine 2/ply lace weight yarn is recommended to achieve the following measurements.
Medium: 74” x 26”, 900 yds
Large: 80” x 29”, 1100 yds

If you choose to use a heavier laceweight yarn, at a larger gauge, please be sure to have at least 10% more yarn per .5/st per inch.

CORRECTION: Row 12, stitch #53 should be a plain knit.
