Knit this up as a memento of a special day, or use it as an inventive alternative to a “congratulations” card. You can personalise it with embroidery, or use just one tier as a birthday cake. It also makes a beautiful wedding cake if made entirely in white.

Size: 9cm (3½in) tall, 6.5cm (2½in) wide

You will need:

• Wool in white, yellow and black, less than 15g each. I used Double Knit (8-6 ply, “light worsted”.) Tension: 10cm x 10cm square is 24 stitches across and 32 rows.
• Knitting needles. I used UK size 11 (3.0mm, US size 2.5)
• Tapestry needle
• Stuffing
