A cosy top-down sock pattern using fingering weight yarn. Based on the traditional Argyll pattern, this sock features a cable and lace panel with a coordinating twisted stitch pattern. A yarn and a pattern, perfectly paired, like a wee dram on Hogmanay.

This pattern is a collaboration with Eilidh of Kelpie Knits, who released her beautifully coloured Granda’s Collection of fingering weight Blue Faced Leicester Wool to celebrate the life of her Grandfather. He helped to form many of her most cherished memories and insisted that his socks always had an Argyll pattern. These socks were inspired by this true Scottish Gentleman: a man who was the epitome of hospitality and a fine example of the welcoming nature of Highland society.

Designed for a single colour, you could let your imagination run free and use as many colours as you would like to make your version of these socks!

The pattern includes written and charted instructions.

Seasoned sock knitters are likely to have a stitch count, gauge, heel and toe pattern which works well for them; this pattern can be used as a starting point and knitted as is, or the cable and lace pattern inserted into your favourite sock recipe.
