Inspired by a recent holiday to West Wales and the locally made yarn I bought there, I’ve tried to capture the colours and textures of the sea.
The cabled headband is knitted first on straight needles using a contrast colour for the cables and garter stitch edging. It is then seamed at the back with mattress stitch.
The remainder of the hat is knitted in the round by picking up and knitting one edge of the headband. It is then knitted in garter stitch with stripes of the two colours.
The 100% Cambrian wool is DK weight and the finished hat has excellent elasticity and is very warm
