The rich, flickering colour of Sincere Sheep Cormo Sport and the long, shifting changes of Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool play up and down this modern top. Designed to work with Dyed in the Wool’s colour changes, Wend is worked flat in four pieces, so there’s no worry about trying to match up stripes at the neck. This top features exposed seams, slight A-line shaping, integrated cap sleeves, and a flattering sweetheart neckline. To make Wend, you will need to know how to knit, purl, and seam. The pattern includes an illustrated tutorial for the German Short Rows used in the sleeve and shoulder shaping, and directions for the M1 and twisted yarn over increases used in the pattern are included in the Abbreviations section. Pattern instructions are written only.

Modeled by Josephine Ankarah.

About the Yarns

Sincere Sheep Cormo Sport is a 3-ply, 100% Cormo wool yarn. This fine wool yarn is soft and springy, with a bit of tooth to it. The yarn’s structure and the tight crimp of the Cormo give this Cormo Sport a lot of flexibility in gauge and good memory, which means that you can knit this yarn at the pattern’s gauge—looser than usual for sport weight—and the garment will keep its shape.

Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool is a 2-ply light sport weight yarn of 100% Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) wool. Designed to be similar to handspun yarn, each ply slowly changes colour to give long, evolving colour changes. While skeins within a colourway will use the same colours, each skein is unique. BFL is the softest and crimpiest of the longwools, and Dyed in the Wool has a fairly springy ply, so it combines well with the Cormo Sport.

Both Sincere Sheep Cormo Sport and Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool are made in the USA from sheep to skein.

When choosing yarns for your project, look for wool or wool blends with good memory that give a fabric that will keep its shape at the pattern’s gauge.
