♫ The Music ♫
Westering Home is a ballad written in the 1920s by H.S. Roberton thought to be derived from an earlier Irish Gaelic song. Performed memorably by The Corries, it speaks of home and comfort and in part says:
““Westering home …There I would hie (hide) me and there I would rest, At hame wi’ my ain (home with my own) folk in Islay”

These toe-up socks come with two options for shaping the bar toe – a round toe and a narrow toe.

The pastille instep cable blossoms into a garter diamond cable panel on the lower leg which in turn flows back into the pastille cable to finish the top leg before culminating in a pattern-matching ribbing. The short-row heel cap means no picking up stitches and the heel flap is worked in a standard slip-stitch pattern.

The stitch patterns were especially selected to work well with kettle-dyed or hand-painted yarns. We had some fun in our Ravelry group coming up with names for the luscious yarn you see in the sample socks: fudge – fudge mania – maple fudge - salt water taffy – you can see the theme!

Both charts and written directions for charts are provided. Charts are contained in the main pattern PDF; the written directions for charts are included as a separate PDF.
