Fifth release for 7 Hats More

Many thanks to Andrea Rangel and her fabulous Stitch Library Alterknit Stitch Dictionary

Here on the West Coast of Canada our Winters are usually quite mild temperature wise, but the cold here is the damp kind that sinks into your bones. Our snow quite often falls as rain. Big cold drops that run down your clothing and can soak you to the skin. We need wool hats here. The kind that can absorb a lot of moisture and still keep you warm. The Cowichan style toques do the job.

The hats are deep enough for a little slouch or to fold over the ribbing for a protective edge.

The pattern is written with charts for the colourwork patterning. The hat can also be knit plain.

Materials: Prairie Sea Fusion, 3 tones, natural white, Mid grey and a highlight (lighter grey in sample), approx. 5 to 7 oz, 100 to 140 yds total

Alternate yarns for Toques include Briggs Country Roving, Custom Woolen Mills Prairie Wool or the old White Buffalo.

If you cannot find a 7.5mm needle, which are no longer a common size, Brittany makes 10-inch-long wooden dpns in that size that are perfect for these toques. You can substitute an 8.0mm needle for the larger size needles.
