Wheat fields are a constant companion on road trips in Southwestern Ontario. Winter wheat is planted in autumn and brilliant green fields emerge when the snow recedes in earliest spring. These mittens capture a drive home on Highway 401 in high summer while farmers work into the evening to harvest the now-mature grain from dusty golden fields. Each bushel carries the memories of the changing seasons and place where it was grown.
