We’re so stoked on this stashbusting backpack, we’ve been toting around our wips everywhere! Not only is Whidbey Bag a super cute way to bust stash yarn into a practical, wearable project bag, it’s also super fun and easy to knit.

Whidbey Bag is knit top down in the round, seamlessly. Finished with easily customizable icord straps which also act as the drawstring for the bag.

Stash yarn in a variety of weights, colors and fibers are handwoven with a darning needle into the body of the bag, Whidbey is super easy and great tv knitting!

  • No Sewing

As always we include lots of video tutorials including how to get started with a provisional cast-on, how to weave your stash, attach the straps and deal with your ends so there’s none to weave-in!

Yarn: you’ll need 2 skeins of DK plus a mess of your favorite stash yarn to weave into your backpack using a darning needle - use whatever yarn you have! - we used a combination of fingering weight held triple, DK held double and single strands of worsted weight yarn for our scrappy Whidbey

Backpack & Straps: 500yds DK

Woven Accent:

Fingering Held Triple: 3 yards per stripe
DK Held Double: 2 yards per stripe
Worsted Held Single: 1 yard per stripe

Weave as many stripes as you desire and stash allows, check out the project page for lots of color inspiration!
