Cheerful coloured stripes spiral down the leg and look different from whichever perspective you look at them.

The socks are worked from the cuff down with an integrated heel, mainly using an intarsia in the round technique. A detailed tutorial with pictures is included in the pattern and lets you confidently try out intarsia in the round.

The pattern is different for left and right sock in that on one sock the stripes slant to the left, on the second sock the stripes slant to the right.

Sizes
Women’s S, M and L to fit leg circumference 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm 7 (7.75, 8.75)”. Leg length including the heel results in 21 (21.75, 22.75) cm 8.25 (8.5, 9)” when knit as given in the pattern, adjustable. Foot length is adjustable.

Material
Five 25 g skeins of a fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 400 m (440 yds) per 100 g
Used in the sample: Cascade Yarns Heritage (400 m 437 yds/100g; 75% Merino, 25% Nylon) in #5633 Italian Plum (A), #5619 Christmas Red (B), #5685 Dahlia (C), #5641 Mango (D), #5616 Fuchsia (E)
2.25 mm / US size 1 DPNs or circular needle(s) for your preferred way to knit in the round
4 stitch markers (one movable), darning needle

The pattern is written for five colours. One is used for cuff, heel turn and toe; the other four for leg, integrated heel and foot. On the second sock the four colours in the stripes are used in reverse order (B changed place with C and D with E), so that all colours in the stripes get used in the integrated heel section once to ensure the yardage needed is the same for each of them. As written the socks don’t make a mirrored pair, but only a matching pair by using the same colours on both socks. You can choose the order of the colours to your liking, but keep in mind that using one colour more than once in the integrated heel section will increase the yardage required.
