Over Christmas in Australia, it’s very hot & humid. So to cope with these weather conditions, I put down my blankets & shawls. I needed something smaller to do. And easy, as the heat is turning my brain to mush! Most rounds in this pattern only have 2-4 increase/decreases.

I became obsessed with this brioche flat cable over the summer break. It has certainly inspired me during the hot weather. First came the beanie, then the cowl & now we have mittens!!! I can’t believe how much fun mittens are to do! Now I’m ready for Autumn/Fall.

So my husband named this pattern by accident & it kind of stuck. When he first saw the pattern, he said it looked like a whirlwind, something we see in the hot, dry, dusty areas during summer. Plus naming the pattern makes him feel awesome!

These mittens have been worked as a 2 colour brioche pattern, however it can be done in one colour as well. They are generous in size & have plenty of room for stretch, thanks to the brioche stitch.
