There’s a funny story behind this shawl. I bought the yarn, Ysolda’s Blend no. 1, in March 2016 at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival. It was so soft and lovely I couldn’t resist.

I packed it in my suitcase, along with a nice gift for my husband: a bottle of 50-year-old whisky. The bottle was hand-filled (and maybe not closed as tight as it should have been), and when I opened my suitcase back in Germany I found that some of the whisky had leaked out into my new wool!

Fortunately, I like the smell of whisky, because it lingered as I was knitting up this shawl.

You don’t need to pour whisky on your own yarn to enjoy knitting Whiskyfied! It’s an asymmetrical triangle with slipped stitches zig-zagging tipsily throughout the body. Garter stitch and a few lines of garter stripes on stockinette add a bit of punch, as well.

Please note: The original yarn is currently not available, but Zelazna 2-ply from Martin’s Lab is a wonderful substitute.
