This is a top down sock pattern that uses a combination of organic cables and texture to create a striking look for any angle (that side profile!!). It’s planned with a heel flap and gusset, but you can easily sub in your favorite heel style to fit your foot. I prefer knitting these with 9” circulars, but the pattern is written with magic loop in mind as well.

My intention for this pattern was to create the kind of sock you would want to wear on a lazy October day or night and indulge in your favorite form of self care, whether that is binge watching your favorite guilty pleasure and knitting, or cracking open a new book with a cup of tea.

It’s perfect for finally caking up that skein of mcn or even a wool/silk blend. I recommend staying away from anything highly variegated. It will look best in a light speckle or semi solid, but the strong cables can carry some variation.

SIZING

  • Extra Small: US women’s 4-5 (60 st)
  • Small: US women’s 6-7 (64 st)
  • Medium: US women’s 8-9 (68 st)
  • Large: US women’s 10-11 (72 st)

Please note: You may need 120g to complete a large sized pair. I recommend using a contrasting mini skein for the cuff, heel and toe if you are knitting this size. Alternatively, you could also just complete a significantly shorter leg.

YARN RECOMMENDATIONS

Sample knit with Nox Yarn Co.
Mars Sock 100g in “Beyond the Wall”

I recommend using a semi solid, low contrast speckle or solid yarn for this pattern. I wrote this pattern with the intention that it would be the perfect pair of socks to curl up on the couch with a good book with, so an MCN or other luxury blend is the perfect choice for these!
