Who Owl Help Cook & Clean
Skill Level: Intermediate
Use up small amounts of yarn to make a useful potholder or cleaning cloth with a helpful owl to coax us.
Try cotton, hemp and linen for cleaning cloths or non-synthetic (heat proof) felting wools for potholders. Gauge and dimensions are provided in worsted weight cotton with size US 7 (4.5mm) needles. Adjust the needle size and/or yarn weight to obtain desired gauge. A light felting of wool items can be achieved in a front-loading washer using cold water with permanent press cycle and a load of towels or jeans. Block to dry (hand-wash for cleaning).
Use contrasting solid colors or try variegated, gradient or self-striping yarn for one of the colors. As long as the contrasting and main colors contrast well, the pattern will reveal itself.
Mosaic garter stitch involves garter (knit) and slipped stitches using one strand of yarn for two rows at a time (switching color strands every two rows). If you can knit stripes and slip stitches it will be easy.
The pattern provides written instructions with (optional) chart for making useful household linens and gifts!
